Zonal Geranium

Autumn Family & Genus Fast Growing
admin March 24, 2026 9 min read

Zonal geranium (a pelargonium) is a bright, cheerful classic for pots, balconies, and sunny windowsills. It forms a compact, bushy plant with thick, slightly fleshy stems and rounded leaves—often marked with a darker “zone” band. From spring through autumn (and sometimes nearly year-round indoors with strong light), it throws up umbrella-like clusters of flowers in reds, pinks, orange-reds, and whites, including single, semi-double, and double forms. It’s loved because it blooms generously, propagates easily from cuttings, and tolerates a bit of drought—so long as you don’t keep its roots soggy.
