Wire Vine

Air Purifying Autumn Bedroom
admin March 25, 2026 5 min read

Wire vine (Muehlenbeckia complexa) is an evergreen, perennial trailer with a charming “lacework” look—tiny rounded to heart-shaped leaves float along dark, wiry stems. It can be allowed to spill from pots and hanging baskets, used as a living groundcover in mild climates, or even trained to climb and weave into a dense, green screen. It’s notably adaptable: give it bright light and regular (but not soggy) watering for the fullest growth, yet it also tolerates partial shade and cooler conditions better than many indoor vines.

Scientific Name Muehlenbeckia complexa
Family / Genus Polygonaceae / Muehlenbeckia
Origin Native to New Zealand; also cultivated in the Yangtze River Delta region of China.
