Winter Jasmine

Autumn Child Safe Family & Genus
admin March 25, 2026 5 min read

Winter jasmine is a tough, easygoing deciduous shrub that feels like a little burst of sunshine in the coldest part of the year. It blooms on bare, green, arching stems from late winter into early spring, covering itself with bright yellow, star-shaped flowers before the leaves fully appear. Because its long shoots naturally sprawl, trail, or can be trained, it’s especially loved for spilling over walls, stabilizing banks and slopes, and brightening mixed borders when most plants are still asleep.

Scientific Name Jasminum nudiflorum
Family / Genus Oleaceae / Jasminum
Origin Native to China, including Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan, and southeastern Tibet; typically found in woodland margins and shrubland on slopes.
Aliases Winter-Flowering Jasmine, Yellow Jasmine
