Stringy stonecrop is a tough little perennial sedum that loves to sprawl. It sends out slender, creeping stems that root wherever they touch the ground, quickly knitting into a bright-green, succulent “living carpet” or spilling beautifully over the edge of pots and hanging baskets. Its leaves often appear in neat whorls of three, and in late spring into summer it tops itself with clusters of tiny, star-shaped yellow flowers—small but charming, especially in sunny spots.

Scientific Name Sedum sarmentosum
Family / Genus Crassulaceae / Sedum
Origin Widely distributed across many provinces and municipalities of China, from the southeast to the northeast (including Beijing). Typically found on sunny slopes and on rocks.
