Star jasmine is a vigorous, evergreen climbing vine loved for its glossy leaves and intensely fragrant, white, pinwheel-like flowers. Give it a wall, fence, pergola, or tree and it will happily scramble upward—yet it’s just as useful as a thick, tidy groundcover on slopes and banks if you keep it clipped. Its stems can form aerial roots, helping it cling as it grows, and like many members of the dogbane family it carries a milky latex sap.
