Sichuan cyathula (Cyathula officinalis) is a hardy, upright perennial herb from the cool, high-elevation mountains of Southwest China. It forms tidy clumps with subtly four-angled stems and simple, oval to narrow-oval leaves. In early summer, it produces tight, rounded clusters of tiny pale-green flowers that can dry to a nearly whitish tone—an understated look that’s charming in naturalistic plantings. Because it enjoys steady moisture and cooler conditions, it’s a great “filler” plant for damp garden spots, woodland edges, or mountain-style borders.

Scientific Name Cyathula officinalis
Family / Genus Amaranthaceae / Cyathula
Origin Endemic to Southwest China, recorded from Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou; found wild and also cultivated, typically in cool, high-elevation mountain areas.
