Rose-painted calathea is a much-loved indoor foliage plant grown for its bold, “painted” leaf patterns. The leaves are broad and oval with decorative striping, and the undersides often glow a deep purplish-red—especially striking when the plant sits at eye level. It naturally grows as a lush clump from the base and can push out new leaves quickly when it’s warm, humid, and evenly moist. Give it bright, indirect light (or gentle medium light), steady warmth, and humid air, and it will reward you with rich color; harsh direct sun and dry air are the quickest ways to get crispy edges or scorched patches.

Scientific Name Goeppertia roseopicta
Family / Genus Marantaceae / Goeppertia
Origin Northwestern Brazil.
Aliases Calathea Roseopicta, Prayer Plant, Rose Calathea, Roseopicta Calathea
