Oleander (Nerium oleander) is a tough, evergreen shrub (sometimes trained into a small tree) famous for its long season of showy, often fragrant blooms. Flower colors range from white and soft pink to deep red, plus cultivated shades like peach, salmon, orange, and even yellow. Gardeners love it because it shrugs off heat, drought, wind, salty coastal air, and city pollution—yet it’s also one of the most poisonous ornamentals, so it’s best admired, not handled casually.
