Narrowleaf Spicebush

Autumn Family & Genus Fast Growing
admin March 25, 2026 4 min read

Narrowleaf spicebush (Lindera angustifolia) is a deciduous shrub to small tree prized for its “four-season” charm. In early spring it opens clusters of tiny yellow flowers, later producing round fruits that ripen to black. Its narrow, slightly leathery leaves often turn vivid orange-red in autumn, and the spent leaves may even hang on—dried—into winter before fresh growth arrives in spring. In its native range it’s also associated with traditional medicinal use, adding cultural interest to its ornamental appeal.
