Japanese Cinnamon

Autumn Fast Growing Flowering Plants
admin March 25, 2026 5 min read

Japanese cinnamon is an evergreen, aromatic tree in the laurel family, loved for its neat, glossy foliage and pleasantly scented twigs and leaves. It carries slender reddish to reddish-brown branchlets and tough, leathery leaves that are usually nearly opposite, shiny green on top and paler gray-green beneath. A classic ID clue is the strong three-veined pattern that starts near the leaf base. In spring it produces small, subtle flowers in axillary panicles, followed later by oblong, drupe-like fruits—making it both an attractive landscape tree and an aromatic plant with practical uses.
