Indian frogbit (Hydrocharis dubia) is a charming, free-floating aquatic that naturally forms neat little rosettes of bright green, heart-to-rounded leaves on the water surface. In warm, well-lit conditions it may bloom with dainty, three-petaled white flowers with a sunny yellow center. Gardeners and aquarists love it for the gentle cover it provides, its natural “pond meadow” look, and its ability to soak up excess nutrients—often helping water look clearer when it’s kept from taking over the whole surface.

Family / Genus Hydrocharitaceae / Hydrocharis
