Indian aster (Kalimeris indica) is a tough, easygoing perennial wildflower in the daisy family that spreads by creeping rhizomes. It pops up naturally in everyday places—roadsides, field edges, and sunny slopes—then rewards you with soft, pale lavender, daisy-like blooms over a long season. Because it’s so adaptable (and not picky about soil or light), it’s often used in naturalistic gardens, while also being traditionally gathered as an edible wild green and used in folk practices in parts of East Asia.

Scientific Name Kalimeris indica
Family / Genus Asteraceae / Kalimeris
Origin A wild species commonly found along roadsides, in fields, and on hillsides; widespread across much of China.
Aliases Field Aster, Kalimeris, Roadside Aster
