Happy tree (Camptotheca acuminata) is a fast-growing, tall deciduous tree native to China, especially common south of the Yangtze River. It carries simple, alternate leaves that range from oval to long-ovate, and in late spring through summer it produces small, pale green flower clusters. After flowering, it develops distinctive winged nutlets that gather into round, ball-like fruiting heads—one of its most recognizable features. In warm, humid regions it’s widely used as a substantial street and park tree thanks to its quick early growth, strong resprouting ability, and shade-giving canopy.
