Grape hyacinth is a tough, beginner-friendly spring bulb that pops up with dense, cone-shaped clusters of tiny bead-like flowers. The blooms are most often a rich cobalt blue, but you’ll also see purple and white forms, sometimes with a light, sweet scent. It’s compact and cheerful in pots, borders, and rock gardens, and it’s also a classic choice for forcing indoors when you want spring color early.
