French Marigold

Autumn Fast Growing Flowering Plants
admin March 24, 2026 7 min read

French Marigold (Tagetes patula) is a cheerful, compact annual that packs a long season of color into a small, tidy plant. From early summer right up to the first frost, it throws out ruffled blooms in glowing shades of yellow, orange, red, and bicolors. The flowers sit above finely divided, fern-like green leaves that smell pleasantly spicy when brushed—one reason gardeners love using it along paths, in pots, and as a lively edging plant. It’s famously easy-going, tolerant of less-than-perfect soil, and can even reseed itself so you may find surprise seedlings the following year.
