Autumn Family & Genus Fast Growing

Fortune's mahonia (Mahonia fortunei) is a tough, shade-tolerant evergreen shrub—sometimes even described as a small tree—loved for its sleek, narrow, spiny-edged leaflets and its cheerful clusters of bright yellow flowers in summer. Later in the year it produces blue-black berries that often look lightly “frosted” thanks to a natural waxy bloom. It’s a great choice when you want an architectural, evergreen plant that can handle lower light, and once established it copes with short dry spells better than many shrubs.
