Florist’s Cineraria

Autumn Bedroom Flowering Plants
Oasislink Houseplant Editorial March 24, 2026 19 min read

Florist’s cineraria (瓜叶菊) is the cheerful, gift-ready pot plant that shows up when days are still chilly—famous for its tight, rounded “mound” of foliage topped with a dome of bright daisy-like flowers. Colors can be wonderfully intense (purples, pinks, bicolors), and the clear blues are a real standout among indoor bloomers. The big secret to keeping it looking compact and blooming longer is cool temperatures plus very bright light. In warm rooms it tends to stretch, the flower stems loosen, and the show finishes sooner. Keep the soil evenly moist (never swampy), give it fresh air, and you’ll get a longer, cleaner display with fewer issues like gray mold or mildew.

Scientific Name Pericallis × hybrida
Family / Genus Asteraceae / Pericallis
Origin Garden hybrid; derived mainly from Canary Islands species (Macaronesia).
Aliases Cineraria, Common Cineraria, Florist's Cineraria
