Dunce Cap Succulent

Autumn Bedroom Drought Tolerant
March 24, 2026

Orostachys furusei is a charming little rosette-forming succulent, most often grown in small pots for windowsills, balconies, and compact succulent displays. It builds neat, tightly layered “lotus-like” rosettes of thick leaves and, with time, can cluster into small clumps. It’s happiest with bright light, warmth, and a dry, fast-draining potting mix. It tolerates a bit of shade and short dry spells, but it strongly dislikes waterlogged soil and is not frost-hardy. Like many monocarpic rosette succulents, an individual rosette may decline after flowering—so some growers snip the flower stalk early to keep a prized rosette looking perfect longer.
