Chinese parasol tree is a tall, straight-trunked deciduous tree with a tidy oval crown and big, hand-shaped leaves that instantly read as “summer shade.” In early summer it produces small yellow‑green flowers often flushed red, followed by distinctive spoon-shaped seed capsules with a netted vein pattern. It’s widely loved as a park and street tree because it handles city conditions and air pollution better than many large-canopy trees, while still looking elegant and calm in the landscape.

Origin Native to China and Japan. In China it is widespread across East, Central, Southwest, and North China, especially common in the Yangtze River basin. It is often found or planted near villages and homes, on hillsides, and on limestone slopes.
