Chinese crabapple is a charming, compact deciduous small tree known for its tidy, upright branching and springtime flower show. Young twigs may feel softly hairy at first, then smooth out as they mature. The oval to elliptic leaves have crisp, sharply toothed edges. In mid-spring it produces clusters of pink blossoms on short stalks—typically held upright rather than dangling—followed by small ornamental fruits that color up from late summer into early autumn.
