Chinese alangium is a deciduous small tree or large shrub prized for its toughness and graceful bloom. It carries rounded to oval, papery leaves and produces delicate flowers with narrow, strap-like petals that open white and gradually turn yellow. With a strong, well-developed root system and an impressive ability to resprout after cutting, it’s a favorite for pruning-friendly landscaping—especially on slopes where it helps hold soil and improve green cover. After flowering, it forms an oval drupe (a small stone fruit) with a single seed.
