China doll plant is a glossy-leaved, tree-like houseplant loved for its neat, layered “tiers” of deep-green, compound leaves. Given bright, filtered light, warm temperatures, and decent humidity, it stays lush and elegant—perfect for a bright living room, entryway, or a calm study corner. It’s also famous for being a little dramatic: when light is too low, air is too dry, or temperatures swing, it may respond by dropping leaves.
