Button fern is a neat, compact fern with gracefully arching fronds made up of small, round “button-like” leaflets. It’s a popular foliage plant for small hanging baskets or as an edging plant in larger shade-loving containers. Despite its delicate look, it usually tolerates a slightly drier potting mix and average household humidity better than many fussier ferns—making it a friendly “starter fern” for indoor plant lovers.

Scientific Name Pellaea rotundifolia
Family / Genus Pteridaceae / Pellaea
Origin New Zealand (commonly grown worldwide as a houseplant).
Aliases New Zealand Button Fern, Round-Leaf Fern
