Kamoji grass (Roegneria kamoji) is a hardy, perennial bunchgrass that forms neat upright clumps and then softens into a meadow-like look when its spike-like seedheads arch and gently droop in midsummer. The spikelets are usually green, sometimes with a purple flush, and the plant can naturalize by self-seeding—making it a lovely choice for relaxed, wildlife-friendly plantings. It’s also valued as a practical forage grass in suitable grazing settings.

Scientific Name Roegneria kamoji
Family / Genus Poaceae / Roegneria
Origin Widespread across most of China (reported as absent from Qinghai and Tibet). Typically found on hillsides and in moist grasslands.
Aliases Bent-Spike Roegneria, Komoji Wildrye
