Chinese angelica tree is an evergreen shrub to small tree grown for its bold, tropical-looking foliage—huge, finely divided leaves that can instantly make a garden corner feel lush. In spring, its tender new shoots are traditionally gathered as a seasonal wild vegetable in parts of China, and it also has a history of folk medicinal use. In summer it carries large, branched panicles packed with tiny flowers, followed by round black berries that typically color up in autumn.

Scientific Name Aralia chinensis
Family / Genus Araliaceae / Aralia
Origin Endemic to China and widely distributed. It grows in forests, shrubland, and along woodland edges and roadsides, typically in sunny sites with warm, moist conditions.
