Chinese pistache is a tough, good-looking deciduous shade tree with a naturally dense, rounded crown. It’s especially loved for dependable autumn color—often turning a vivid red—making it a favorite for streets, parks, and sunny gardens. It also handles wind and drought surprisingly well once established, and its clusters of small fruits (on female trees) add extra seasonal interest as they shift from pale tones to red and finally bluish-purple.

Scientific Name Pistacia chinensis
Family / Genus Anacardiaceae / Pistacia
Origin Native to China and the Philippines; in China it is widespread south of the Yangtze River and also occurs in North and Northwest China, typically growing in mountain woodlands.
