Sea aster is a short-lived wildflower (usually annual to biennial) that loves salty, wet places—think tidal marshes, brackish pond edges, and windswept shorelines. It often appears in scattered patches or loose colonies, then lights up late in the season with cheerful daisy-like blooms. From late summer well into winter, you’ll see white to soft pink rays circling a sunny yellow center—welcome color at a time when many other plants have already bowed out.

Scientific Name Tripolium vulgare
Family / Genus Asteraceae / Tripolium
Origin Coastal habitats such as seashores, lake margins, marshes, and saline/alkaline wetlands.
