Rostellularia procumbens is a low, annual, creeping herb that spreads into a soft, living carpet—especially in warm, moist spots. Its opposite leaves can vary in shape from plant to plant, and it sends up slender terminal or axillary flower spikes with pale pink to pinkish‑purple blooms from late summer into autumn. After flowering, it produces dark, slightly flattened seeds with a distinctive raised, net-like texture. It’s happiest in sheltered, woodland-style plantings where the soil stays evenly moist, and it dislikes frost and harsh, drying sun.
