Bog Sage

Autumn Fast Growing Flowering Plants

Bog sage is a tall, airy perennial salvia loved for its rare, clear sky-blue flowers and its wonderfully long blooming season. It grows in tidy clumps and sends up slender, wand-like stems that add height and a “see-through” lightness to borders without feeling heavy. The blooms are lightly fragrant, very pollinator-friendly, and the stems also work beautifully as cut flowers (fresh or dried).

Scientific Name Salvia uliginosa
Family / Genus Lamiaceae / Salvia
Origin Native to southern South America (notably Brazil, Uruguay, and northeastern Argentina). In the wild it typically grows in moist grasslands and along waterways, which is reflected in its species name.
Aliases Blue Bog Sage, Bog Salvia
