Fishbone cactus is a famously funky epiphytic cactus with long, flat, deeply notched green stems that look like a chunky fish skeleton. Instead of living in dry deserts, it naturally clings to trees in humid Mexican forests, which explains why it enjoys bright, filtered light and an airy mix. Given good care and a cooler, slightly drier winter rest, mature plants can reward you in autumn with pleasantly fragrant, pale yellow to creamy blooms—often opening at night—softening its bold, architectural look.
