Chinese yew is a dignified evergreen conifer admired for its dense, deep-green needles and the eye-catching bright red arils (those berry-like seed coverings) that appear in autumn and often linger into winter. In gardens it can mature into a substantial tree over time, but in the houseplant trade it’s most often sold as a young container plant that enjoys cool, moist conditions and gentle, filtered light rather than harsh sun.
