Dragonfly bromeliad is an elegant, architectural Aechmea that forms a neat, vase-like rosette of arching, silver‑green leaves with a central water-holding “cup.” In summer it sends up a tall flower spike crowned with showy pink bracts and small purple flowers—an eye-catching display where the bracts usually stay colorful longer than the true blooms.

Scientific Name Aechmea fendleri
Family / Genus Bromeliaceae / Aechmea
Origin Northern South America (notably Venezuela and adjacent regions), where it grows as an epiphyte in tropical forests.
Aliases Aechmea, Bromeliad
