Dwarf umbrella tree is a classic evergreen houseplant grown for its glossy, hand-shaped leaves—each leaf is made of several oval “fingers,” giving it that umbrella (or goose-foot) look. It’s fast-growing, easygoing, and can be kept as a dense, bushy plant with regular trimming, or allowed to mature into a small indoor tree. Many nursery plants are trained on a stake or moss pole, which helps keep stems upright and tidy in bright rooms.

Scientific Name Heptapleurum arboricola
Family / Genus Araliaceae / Heptapleurum
Origin Southern China (including Hainan) and Taiwan; now widely cultivated worldwide as a houseplant.
Aliases Dwarf Schefflera, Hawaiian Schefflera, Schefflera, Umbrella Tree
