Spreading Sneezeweed

Autumn Fast Growing Flowering Plants
Oasislink Garden & Outdoor Team March 25, 2026 4 min read

Spreading Sneezeweed (Centipeda minima) is a tiny, low-growing annual in the daisy family that creeps along the ground and branches freely to form a soft, spreading mat. It naturally carpets moist, shaded places—think damp pathsides, woodland edges, or other “forgotten” corners where the soil stays cool and evenly wet. Its flower heads are small and button-like rather than showy, but the plant makes a charming, naturalistic understory groundcover and often reappears by self-seeding when conditions suit it.

Scientific Name Centipeda minima
Family / Genus Asteraceae / Centipeda
Origin Native across much of China (Northeast, North, Central, East, South, Southwest), typically found along roadsides, in wasteland, and in shaded, damp places.
Aliases Common Centipeda, Goosegrass
