Naked-leaved felt fern (Pyrrosia nuda) is a charming perennial epiphytic fern—meaning it prefers to live perched on tree trunks and bark rather than rooted in soil. It forms a tidy little clump of narrow, slightly fleshy, strap-like fronds that look wonderfully clean and architectural in a shady, humid setting. Like all ferns, it doesn’t bloom; instead, it develops round spore clusters (sori) on the upper part of the fronds, which gradually become exposed as they mature and release spores. It’s especially loved as a “mounted plant” for creating a mini forest vibe on cork, bark, or a moss pole in bright, indirect light.

Scientific Name Pyrrosia nuda
Family / Genus Polypodiaceae / Pyrrosia
Origin Mainly found in southern and southwestern China, including Hainan, Yunnan, and Sichuan.
