Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema) is a classic, stylish foliage houseplant loved for its narrow, lance-shaped leaves splashed with silver, cream, and sometimes pink—patterns that vary a lot by cultivar. It’s happiest in warm, steady indoor conditions with evenly moist soil and moderate humidity, and it’s famously tolerant of lower light than many other houseplants. The flowers are the typical aroid kind (a spadix with a small spathe) and are usually pinched off indoors so the plant puts its energy into making even better leaves.

Scientific Name Aglaonema spp.
Family / Genus Araceae / Aglaonema
