Flaming Katy

Autumn Bedroom Drought Tolerant
admin March 24, 2026 7 min read

Flaming Katy (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) is a beloved flowering succulent that stays naturally compact, with thick, glossy green leaves and cheerful clusters of tiny blooms held above the foliage. Native to Madagascar, it’s famous for putting on a long indoor show—often 6–8 weeks, and in bright light sometimes up to about 12 weeks. Flower colors range from classic reds and pinks to orange, yellow, white, and even purple, with both single-flowered and modern double “rose-form” types (often sold as Calandiva). It’s drought-tolerant, beginner-friendly, and a popular winter-and-spring gift plant—especially around holidays.
