Bellis perennis—often simply called the daisy—is the classic “button bloom” flower: crisp white (sometimes pink-flushed) petals circling a sunny yellow center. It forms a neat, low rosette of leaves and sends up leafless stems topped with cheerful flower heads from spring into summer, and often much longer in cool, mild weather. Loved as an edging plant, container filler, and naturalized lawn wildflower, it’s generally easy-going—just give it light, decent drainage, and relief from intense summer heat.
